sauteed onions and hella worcestershire.

so, is there anyone who reads fresh cherries from yakima that doesn’t read passion of the weiss, especially after i became a contributor? i mean, it’s not every day that you get to write for your favorite blog, and really, you should have been reading his blog long before i became a part of team passion.

anyhow, over at passion, we’ve been counting down the best rap songs of the calendar year, so you probably should check it out. and not only for the ridiculously high quality of writing (..and douglas martin), but because jeff has provided .zip files of ALL of the tracks on the list! come on. you don’t want free rap tunes? i mean, you’ll get an mp3 of seattle producer jake one’s collaboration with MF DOOM (ahem, a fresh cherries favorite), from his insanely great album white van music! GO GO GO! and read the whole thing, because your boy got to write about the number one song.

  1. Daniel Says:

    Great entry on “The Kramer.”

  2. Curt B Says:

I enjoyed these lists thoroughly, good stuff Mr. Martin

  3. Douglas Martin Says:

Daniel: Thanks, dude! It was sort of hard for me to write. It’s one of those things where since I write songs under the template of narrative fiction, I’ve gotten to a point where I’m not very comfortable sharing details of my actual life with (mostly) complete strangers. But “The Kramer” had such a strong message, that when Jeff asked me to write the blurb for it, I had to reach back to my childhood.

Curt: I’m glad you’ve been enjoying them! The list on Passion is my favorite, though, because those dudes are much better writers than I am, so I’ve been spoiled by their input and some of the discussions we have.
