the fresh cherries muxtape: week one.
over the last few weeks, the muxtape has become an internet sensation. i dutifully ignored the phenomenon myself, but with the prospect of jeff weiss making muxtapes a feature on his blog, i’ve decided that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and decided to roll out a new feature here on fresh cherries dot com: fresh cherries muxtapes!
i’ll do my damndest to post a new muxtape every week, and each week will have a particular theme. hit me on myspace or e-mail me [douglasmartin49@gmail.com– I DO NOT ACCEPT PROMOS FROM BANDS UNLESS I ALREADY LIKE THEM, KTHX] if you’d like to suggest a theme. it’s sorta like a challenge.
THIS WEEK’S THEME: guitars, pianos, and a broken harp: moody songs made by cute girls!
the title is self-explanatory, and features some of your favorites [cat power, feist, jenny lewis], my favorites [tiny vipers, rio en medio, emily haines, laura veirs], and a couple names you should make yourself more familiar with [jillian leigh, sera cahoone, angel deradoorian (she of the dirty projectors, you know, one of the two girls with the utterly beautiful voices)]. and since the muxtape will be changing weekly, here’s the tracklisting:

What exactly don’t you like about Muxtape? It seems fairly harmless to me. And you know me, good music and cute girls are the two most necessary things in my life.
